‘2025 Australian Medical Device Market Entry Strategy Webinar’ to be held on July 17
Australia’s Medical Device Demand Largely Dependent on Imports (85%)... Focused on Practical Information Including TGA Certification

KOTRA (President Kang Kyung-sung) will hold an online '2025 Australian Medical Device Market Entry Strategy Webinar' starting at 2 PM on July 17. This webinar is designed for domestic companies interested in entering the Australian medical device market.

Last September, KOTRA published a report titled ‘Trends in the Australian Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Markets and Market Entry Strategies.’ This webinar is planned to provide practical information to our companies interested in entering the Australian medical device sector based on that report.

As of 2024, the Australian medical device market is valued at USD 7.1 billion, ranking 12th in the world. Considering the population of about 27 million, it is a market with a high consumption scale relative to its population. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration (ITA), Australia relies on imports for 85% of its medical device demand, making it a promising export market for Korean companies.

The webinar will cover practical topics, including: Overview of the Australian medical device market; Australian medical device export strategy; Medical device certification (TGA); Intellectual property infringement cases in the medical device field and how to respond

Following the webinar, KOTRA plans to hold an ‘Australian Medical Device Online Consultation Meeting’ in August, where about 15 domestic companies will be able to engage in one-on-one consultations with local Australian buyers to support initial market entry.

Koo Bon-kyung, Regional Director General for KOTRA's Southeast Asia and Oceania, stated, "The Australian medical device market has not received as much attention as the U.S., China, and Europe, but it is a promising market with a large consumption scale relative to its population. We hope this webinar will serve as an opportunity for companies to view Australia as a new alternative export market and contribute to the new government’s export diversification policies."
