Japanese and International Media Highlight Korea Pavilion as a "Must-See Pavilion"

As of September 6, the Korea Pavilion at the 2025 Osaka Expo has surpassed 2 million visitors. After reaching 1 million visitors in just 71 days following its opening on April 13, the pavilion hit the 2 million mark 76 days later. Considering the initial impact of the opening ceremony, the popularity of the Korea Pavilion has gained the growth momentum. During the same period, the total number of Expo visitors reached 17.55 million, meaning one in nine visitors chose to visit the Korea Pavilion.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and organized by KOTRA (President Kang Kyung-Seong), the Korea Pavilion features the theme "With Hearts," blending advanced technology with cultural content for an interactive exhibition that has garnered positive feedback from visitors. Traditional performances, K-POP stages, and thematic forums are also popular attractions.

In particular, the global rise in interest in K-POP has contributed significantly to the Korea Pavilion's success. The pavilion features media facade collaborations with global K-POP stars and K-POP performances, making it an especially popular destination. Even in the summer heat, the waiting time for visitors has increased from the usual one hour to up to two hours since August, establishing the Korea Pavilion as one of the major attractions at the Expo.

The Osaka Expo is being held 55 years after the first Expo in the same region in 1970, and the Korea Pavilion plays a significant role in showcasing Korea's progress and its engagement and cooperation with the international community over the past five decades. It is also being used as a platform for industrial and cultural cooperation between Korea and Japan, timed to coincide with recent bilateral summit talks between the two nations.

Local media interest is also high. The Korea Pavilion has been featured in daily reports by local media, with about 170 journalists from domestic and international outlets visiting the pavilion. Prominent international media, including The New York Times and Singapore’s national media CNA, as well as Japanese media, have highlighted the Korea Pavilion as a "must-see pavilion."

Park Young-hwan, Deputy Commissioner General and Pavilion Director for the Korea Pavilion at the Osaka Expo, stated, "Since the opening, visitor numbers have steadily increased, and the Korea Pavilion is being recognized as a must-see attraction. We will continue to actively use this opportunity to introduce our culture and technology to visitors until the pavilion closes on October 13."
