The Korean Pavilion at the Osaka Expo, which attracted 3.15 million visitors over six months and enjoyed popularity both locally in Japan and online, successfully concluded its 184-day journey on October 13.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (Minister Kim Jeong-kwan) and organized by KOTRA (President Kang Kyung-sung), the '2025 Osaka Expo Korean Pavilion' welcomed approximately 3.15 million visitors out of a total of 25.5 million Expo attendees. The pavilion left a deep impression on visitors, with its exhibitions on technology and culture, marking the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic normalization and the two Korea-Japan summits held during the Expo.

The pavilion, themed ‘With Hearts,’ was composed of a media facade and three exhibition halls. In total, 3.15 million visitors came to the Korean Pavilion, including 2.62 million in-person visitors and 530,000 online visitors. With an average of 17,000 visitors per day, waiting times for entry reached up to 2–3 hours, reflecting its popularity.
* ‘‘Media facade’ is a term combining ‘media’ and ‘facade’ (building exterior), referring to the digital technique of displaying videos or images using LED lighting or displays on the building’s outer walls.

The Expo served as a platform to effectively showcase Korea’s outstanding industries, technology, and culture to the world. The 2025 Expo in Osaka, held 55 years after the 1970 Expo, represented Korea's rising global stature as a developed nation. Korea raised its promotional impact through 44 industrial, technological, and cultural events, garnering significant attention as one of the top national pavilions.

The Korean Pavilion also marked a new opportunity for entry into the Japanese market. The digital technologies and solutions for future societies showcased by Korea highlighted the country as an ideal partner for solving joint challenges between Korea and Japan, such as industrial transformation and the aging population issue. Japan expressed interest in collaborating with Korea on advanced industries like semiconductors and secondary batteries, as well as on supply chain stabilization and third-country market exploration.

President Kang Kyung-sung of KOTRA emphasized, “The Korean Pavilion at the Osaka Expo was a platform to showcase our industrial and cultural strengths to the world and share our future vision. We will ensure that the Expo's effects expand into trade, investment, industry, culture, and tourism exchanges, laying the groundwork for our growth and seizing new opportunities.”
