In 2025, Korea’s pharmaceutical exports surpassed USD 10 billion for the first time, reaching a provisional total of USD 10.7 billion. Amid growing interest among K-Bio companies in overseas expansion, a global platform will be provided to facilitate partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies and investors.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Kim Jeong-gwan) and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA, President Kang Kyung-sung) announced that they will host the K-Bio Global Partnership on January 13 in San Francisco, the United States. The event is designed as a comprehensive platform for export promotion, investment cooperation, and technological collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector. Notably, the event will be held in conjunction with the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference for the first time, with the aim of expanding points of engagement with global companies.

The J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference (January 12–16) is a premier global conference in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, attracting more than 8,000 participants each year, including leading pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and investors. The conference places a strong focus on cutting-edge technologies, particularly new drug development and the application of artificial intelligence.

The K-Bio Global Partnership will comprise four key programs: the ▲Global Open Innovation Partnering Forum, ▲Investment Promotion IR sessions, ▲B2B partnering meetings, and ▲Consulting sessions on entry into the U.S. bio market.

The Global Open Innovation Partnering Session will bring together a number of world-renowned medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies, including the Mayo Clinic—ranked No. 1 in U.S. hospital uations by Newsweek in 2025—as well as AstraZeneca, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Rigel Pharmaceutical, to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

The Investment Promotion IR Pitching Session will feature ten promising K-Bio companies specializing in new drug development, drug development platforms, AI, and digital healthcare. These companies will present to global pharmaceutical firms and venture capital (VC) investors to seek investment and strategic partnerships.

KOTRA President Kang Kyung-sung stated, “Through the pandemic, K-Bio has grown beyond a future-oriented high-tech sector into one of Korea’s core export industries, driving increasing demand among bio and medical companies for overseas expansion.” He added, “By strengthening cooperation with global pharmaceutical companies and investors, KOTRA will actively leverage this opportunity to accelerate the growth of K-Bio and help advance Korea’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top five exporting nations.”
