KOTRA Holds ‘Investment Promotion Session for Global Advanced Materials Companies’ in Connection with JEC World in Paris
GGEFZ and KCNA Collaborate to Go All-out to Attract Global Advanced Materials Companies

A platform for attracting global advanced materials companies has opened in the heart of Europe, the birthplace of advanced composite materials. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA, CEO Kang Kyung-sung), together with the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority (GGEFZ, Commissioner Kim Neung-sik) and the Korea Carbon Nano Industry Association (KCNA, Chairman Park Jong-su), held the "Investment Promotion Session for Global Advanced Materials Companies" at the 'JEC World 2026' exhibition center in Paris on March 10, local time.

JEC World is the world’s largest specialized exhibition for composite materials, marking its 60th anniversary this year. With ‘sustainability’ and ‘circularity’ presented as key keywords for 2026, it is estimated that approximately 1,400 companies from 100 countries will set up exhibition booths, attracting about 40,000 visitors. The main exhibition areas include technologies and solutions related to the entire process from the production to recycling of composite materials, such as reinforced fibers and next-generation thermoplastics, which are essential materials for advanced industries including semiconductors, future cars, batteries, and aerospace.

In the era of AI and robot innovation, the importance of advanced materials is greater than ever. For instance, ultra-fine process materials in the semiconductor sector and ultra-lightweight materials in the future car sector are cited as factors determining competitiveness.

This information session was also organized to strengthen our innovative industrial ecosystem by attracting global advanced materials companies. About 50 representatives from global advanced materials companies and investment firms attended the session. First, KOTRA shared South Korea’s advanced materials promotion policies and investment attraction cases, followed by GGEFZ’s introduction of specialized innovative industrial complexes such as the ‘Pyeongtaek Poseung (BIX*) District.’ KCNA shared the current status and outlook of the carbon nano industry in Korea, and Hanwha Advanced Materials also shared its current status of advanced materials development and future strategies to explore possibilities for global cooperation. * BIX (Business & Industry Complex): A complex industrial complex where industry, logistics, and residential facilities are gathered in one place.

Kim Tae-hyung, head of Invest KOREA, said, “Global advanced materials companies are well aware of Korea’s K-advanced manufacturing capabilities and perceive Korea as the largest market.” He added, “We will enhance the effect of attracting investment in advanced materials by emphasizing that Korea is the optimal investment destination where everything from advanced materials R&D to commercialization, mass production, and application can be carried out.”
