KOTRA Held Investment Seminar at L.A., the U.S.

KOTRA held an investment seminar for about 120 financial investors at Los Angeles, the U.S. on February 8th.
 

At the seminar held under the theme of ‘investment opportunities in the Korean financial market,’ KOTRA explained Korea’s investment environment, success stories of major private equity investment in Korea, and Invest KOREA’s projects to encourage foreign investment.
 

Senior Vice President Jean-Charles Sambor of the TCW Group, a mortgage fund managing firm on the Wall Street, introduced its strategies to distribute assets and make investment in Korea. Deputy CEO Bernard van Bunnik of GE Hyundai Capital & Card, which is touted as a successful joint investment between Korea and the U.S., gave a presentation on building successful partnership with Korean companies. CEO Sheeraz Haji of Cleantech Group, a clean energy research institute based in the U.S., presented how to invest in the rapidly growing green industry.
 

Commissioner Hank Ahn of Invest KOREA said “global private equity, venture capital, and other financial investment in promising Korean companies will contribute to improving financial structure, incorporating Korean companies into foreign investors’ global network, transfer of advanced business practices, and increasing the awareness of domestic companies.”
 

KOTRA invited about ten major law firms, accounting firms, and financial companies including Prudential Insurance Company of America, KPMG, and Shearman & Sterling in New York on February 10th to introduce Korea’s financial, legal, taxation, and accounting markets which will be opened when the Korea-U.S. FTA is ratified and to suggest investment.
