Date
2011.09.22
제목 없음 South Korean companies have strengthened their presence on the global market over the past 10 years in terms of revenue and financial status, a report showed Wednesday.

The report, compiled by the Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI), shows that 14 South Korean companies joined the Forbes list of 500 top global companies last year, with Samsung Electronics Co. ranking 22nd.

In 2000, only 11 South Korean companies were included on the list, with Samsung Electronics in the 92nd spot, according to the report.

The Forbes list is based on an assessment of four business areas -- sales, profit, assets and market value.

SERI said South Korean firms also saw their financial status improve sharply over the cited period.

On average, their debt ratio stood at 101.1 percent last year, compared with 203.5 percent in 2000, and their liquid ratio, which measures a firm's short-term payment ability, increased to 117.1 percent from 84.6 percent over the cited period, it said.
