Twelve blocks out of the total thirteen in Gimcheon General Industrial Complex No. 1 built on a 805,000 square meter-site in Gimcheon, north Gyeongsang Province have been already leased to companies. Six companies including Kolon Life Science and Biolite built their factories and the rest six are constructing factories.

The rest one district seems to be rented soon as the city is negotiating with a company.

The popularity of the Gimcheon industrial complex seems to be attributable to its great transportation networks and investors' strong expectation on Gimcheon's potential, the city said.

The complex is located 5 kilometers away from Gyeongbu Highway and Gimcheon and Gumi KTX Station, which is expected to lead to less logistics expenses for companies.

Encouraged by the Gimcheon complex' success, the city decided to establish Gimcheon General Industrial Complex No. 2 right next to the complex No. 1.

The general complex No. 2 to be built on a 1.424 million square meter-site by 2014 will focus on attracting automobile, electronics component, and food & beverage companies.

"We will create a corporate-friendly investment environment by expanding financial supports and tax incentives for companies," said Gimcheon Mayor Park Bo-saeng.
