Japan's Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) held a groundbreaking for an OLED glass substrate factory for Nippon Electric Glass Korea (EGkr) in late August in Dandong industrial complex designated for foreign investors, located in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province.

NEG, the world's third largest LCD panel manufacturer, will invest a total of 810 billion won in EGkr for the next five years.

The construction will be completed in next July and the factory will start commercial production in next September.

The new factory will stimulate the local economy by creating 250 jobs, Paju expects.

"The decision made by NEG holding the core technology of LCD to build a manufacturing facility here is expected to elevate Paju's status as a high-tech city. We will provide all possible administrative supports for the construction," said Lee Ju-hyeon, a Paju official from corporate support department.
