The president of the World Bank will visit Korea this month to
attend an international forum and meet with key policymakers here to discuss
cooperation, the finance ministry said Thursday.
Jim Yong Kim will stay
in Seoul on Oct. 14-16 after taking part in the general assembly of the
International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to be held in Tokyo the previous
week, according to the ministry.
Kim, a Korean-born American and renowned
health expert and educator, will attend a forum the Korean government and the
World Bank will jointly hold to share experience on economic
development.
During his three-day stay, Kim will also meet with Finance
Minister Bahk Jae-wan to discuss cooperation, while joining other diverse events
including a lecture for students. He is scheduled to hold a press conference on
Oct. 15, the ministry said.
