The Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) authority and seven international organizations including the United Nation’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) secretariat will be located in I-Tower, an 86,000 square meter-landmark building in Incheon, whose construction began in July 2010, within this month.
The architecture acquired fist ratings in various sectors including energy efficiency, barrier-free design, environmentally-friendly architecture, ultra-speed internet connection and intelligent architecture.
The location of the GCF secretariat in I-Tower, in particular, is expected to attract other international enterprises in finance, environment and law sectors, which will result in stimulating Incheon’s economy, according to the IFEZ authority.
I-Tower will serve as a comprehensive administrative town by providing foreign investors and local residents with one-stop services on business, education, culture and leisure.
“The landmark building of I-Tower is an environmentally-friendly public architecture pursuing harmony
with the surrounding environment where foreigners and local citizens spend quality time,” said an official at the IFEZ authority. “The tower will elevate its status into Northeast Asia’s economic hub down the road.”
