MOU Signed to Attract Global Events to KINTEX
Date
2013.03.19

Eight entities in the exhibition and culture district of Goyang City have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop the “MICE” industry and boost its competitiveness. They are the Goyang City Government, the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Hyundai Department Store, Megabox, Homeplus, Lakins Mall, Onemount, and MVL Hotel.

MICE is an acronym for meetings, incentives, conventions, and events & exhibitions.

According to the MOU, the entities will actively collaborate to come up with measures to increase business generated by visitors and participants of global events held at KINTEX. They will also conduct joint marketing to host various international events there.

“Poor surrounding conditions were a setback to attracting a variety of international events. However, the formation of the MICE alliance and recent opening of surrounding facilities have provided many places to sleep, play, and eat for visitors,” said President Lee Han-cheol of KINTEX.

Meanwhile, the five-star Daemyung MVL Hotel and megamall Onemount will open in the exhibition and culture district near KINTEX this month.
