Gyeonggi Province signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEPCO) to promote new and renewable energy. Under the MOU, they will cooperate to reduce energy demand and promote the use of new and renewable energy. They will also develop and export smart vegetable factories applied with new and renewable energy sources, such as LED lights, solar heat, and geothermal heat.

An investment promotion delegation from the province will visit the Qatar National Food Security Program (QNFSP) on Wednesday to discuss the joint development and distribution of smart vegetable factories. The export scale and price of the factories will also be negotiated.

Gyeonggi Province expects the MOU signed with KEPCO to be greatly beneficial for the exports of smart vegetable factories.

The provincial government has developed smart vegetable factories by applying state-of-the-art information and technology convergence methods. The vegetable factories are equipped with robot sowers and LED lights and set temperature and humidity automatically at the optimum level.
