The Gimcheon City Government will soon begin the second phase of a project to build a general industrial complex.
Gimcheon, which successfully completed the first phase of land preparation in 2011, is ready to carry out the second phase. As the beginning of the second phase, the city will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on April 15 with 1,000 attendees, including Governor Kim Kwan-yong of North Gyeongsang Province and Mayor Park Bo-saeng of Gimcheon.
The second phase is scheduled to be completed by 2015 with an investment of KRW 198 billion. Once the complex is established, companies in the fields of metal processing, automobiles, trailers, electronic parts, and nonmetallic mineral products will move in.
“I believe that once the complex is completed, we can comfortably create 10,000 jobs and attract investments worth KRW 3 trillion. I will endeavor to transform the city into a high-quality one by continuously building eco-friendly tourism-related infrastructures, such as Buhang Dam and Hayarobi Park in Hwangaksan Mountain,” said Mayor Park.
