Miryang Receives Govt. Support for Complex
Date
2013.04.15

Miryang will receive government support to construct an industrial complex for nano convergence technology, which is one of the four major industrial complexes to be backed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT).

According to the Miryang City Government, MOLIT briefed President Park Geun-hye of Korea last Thursday on its action plan to implement six major national tasks. MOLIT reported that it will develop industrial complexes, which account for 48 percent of total employment in manufacturing, to create jobs and realize a creative economy. In accordance with the plan, the government will support industrial complexes in Miryang, Geoje, Sacheon, and Wonju to attract future-oriented creative companies. The government plans to turn the complexes into future-oriented creative industrial complexes this year by analyzing demand for the complex by September and establishing support measures by October.

The government’s support is expected to accelerate the fostering of a national industrial complex for nano convergence technology in Miryang. South Gyeongsang Province is also providing administrative support to establish the complex. Miryang plans to construct a nano convergence research center on a 124,000㎡ by 2016 and build the complex on a 343,000㎡ site that will provide companies with R&D facilities.

“We will strengthen cooperation with the Miryang Nano Center as well as the College of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology at Pusan National University to come up with research tasks suitable for regional characteristics and complying with regional and national policy directions,” said Um Yong-Su, Mayor of Miryang.
