Seoul Signs MOU with ISE

Seoul city signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Fraunhofer-Institute fuer Solare Energiesysteme (ISE) Tuesday for cooperation in matters related to energy and climate change.

ISE, a Freiburg-based research agency that leads the field of construction, optical system, solar cell and renewable electric supply devices, is a member of the Fraunhofer Energy Alliance.

ISE also participated in the design of the Seoul Energy Dream Center and new Seoul city hall with an MOU with Seoul in May of 2008.

With the second MOU, Seoul and ISE will cooperate on the optimization of energy consumption in buildings and energy efficiency improvement, a joint event for technology transfer, smart IT system introduction, installation of solar panels in public and private buildings and renewable energy production.

Both parties will also collaborate to develop a model for the Zero Energy Building, which consumes less energy.

Gwon Min, a Seoul official from Climate & Environment Headquarters, noted that improving the efficiency of energy consumption is a priority for Seoul, adding that the city will continue its efforts to reduce energy consumption in Seoul buildings with the MOU.
