Date
2013.06.07

According to Gyeonggi Province, Canon Korea Business Solutions, a foreign-invested company established with investment from Canon, a Japanese company, and Korea’s Lotte Group in 1985, has built new manufacturing and R&D facilities in Sihwa Multi Techno Valley (MTV), in addition to its other factory in Banwall Industrial Complex, Ansan. The facilities, built with an investment of KRW 100 billion on an 89,000 m2 site, include a manufacturing plant, laboratories, offices, a logistics center and a service center.

Canon Korea Business Solution will recruit 525 workers by 2014 to manufacture and study advanced products such as medical equipment and secondary battery manufacturing facilities.

Canon Korea Business Solution signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gyeonggi Province in August of 2010 and began construction in April 2011.

Governor of Gyeonggi Province Kim Moon-soo, Mayor of Ansan Kim Cheol-min, Kim Cheon-joo, CEO of Canon Korea Business Solutions, Executive Vice President & CFO of Canon Toshizo Tanaka and Chairman of Lotte Group Shin Dong-bin attended the opening ceremony.

Governor Kim noted that the province will continue to enhance the investment environment and provide administrative support so that foreign-invested companies can contribute to the regional economy through job creation, technology transfer and other means.

A Gyeonggi Province official expects Canon Korea Business Solution to expand its business from multifunction devices to medical equipment and automation facilities, adding that the province will serve as an R&D hub of the Canon Group.
