Date
2013.06.20

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced Sunday that it has designated two additional companies for a 80,000 m2 site in the port hinterlands, a free economic zone, of Pyeongtaek & Dangjin Port.

The MOF expects to attract investment of KRW 23.3 billion, creating cargo volume of 18,000 TEU in a year and 200 new jobs.

The hinterlands of Pyeongtaek & Dangjin Port attracted 11 companies on a 730,000 m2 site, which resulted in foreign investment of KRW 2.1 billion, cargo volume of 145,000 TEU and 464 new jobs.

One of the companies that have been newly designated to the site, and which signed a long-term contract with the Volvo Group, is forecast to create consistent cargo volume backed by the port’s facilities for automobiles.

MOF plans to establish a hinterland area of two million m2 in Pyeongtaek & Dangjin Port by 2020 to attract additional global companies to foster the area as a logistics hub with high-added values.
