Date
2013.12.13

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL = Yonhap News) South Korea's Incheon International Airport, the main gateway to Seoul, received the world's best airport award from a renowned travel magazine, the airport said Wednesday.

Global Traveler, the U.S.-based travel magazine, gave the Incheon airport the highest score for its overall facilities and service based upon its survey of some 20,000 readers worldwide, according to the Incheon International Airport Corp.

The magazine provides a premium source of information for luxury travelers and has an annual circulation of 110,000 people worldwide, according to its website.

It marks the eighth consecutive year that the South Korean airport ranked top in the magazine's yearly vote.

Singapore's Changi Airport ranked the world's second best airport, followed by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands and Dusseldorf International Airport in Germany.

"This is a precious achievement thanks to joint efforts of the government, relevant agencies, outsourcing companies and all workers," said CEO Jung Chang-soo, vowing to strive further "to provide the best service."

In March, Incheon topped the list of some 1,700 airports worldwide in the annual airport service quality survey carried out by the Airports Council International (ACI), becoming the world's best airport for the eighth consecutive year.

Nearly 40 million passengers use the airport every year, according to government data.

A third-phase expansion project that includes the construction of an additional passenger terminal is underway at the airport, and will be completed in 2017.
