According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL = Yonhap News) Microsoft plans to build a data center in Korea, and the location is likely to be Busan.

According to industry sources on February 12, the global computing giant’s U.S. headquarters recently announced on its website that it would hire a data center development program manager who will work in Busan.

The company said the data center will be operated by the Cloud and Enterprise Engineering Group.

Microsoft reportedly held a business information session with domestic construction companies on February 11 and made public its construction plans for the data center.

As the news spread, the city of Busan began efforts to attract global enterprises such as Hewlett-Packard (HP), Microsoft and Siemens Korea in the global cloud center complex in the Mieum District in Busan.

The company is expected to use the data center as a cloud data center for the Asia-Pacific region.

But Microsoft Korea said it could not confirm the report about the construction of the data center.
