(SEOUL = Yonhap News) The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) announced on Feb. 23 that it will fund a total of KRW 113.8 billion this year for core industrial technology development projects.
The funding will go to: 20 projects in three fields in the creative industry (KRW 18.4 bil.); 48 projects in eight fields in the parts & components industry (KRW 52.3 bil.); and 43 projects in six fields in the systems industry (KRW 43.1 bil.).
The funded projects include development of technologies for humanoid robots for training children with autism, botanical drugs for treating metabolic diseases and materials and steel pipe for shale gas drilling equipment.
The ministry plans to post its project funding plan on the official website of the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology from Feb. 24 to Apr. 15 and select the funding recipients in April or May.
