(SEOUL=Yonhap News) GM Korea held an opening ceremony for an upgraded design center in Incheon on April 25. The event was attended by GM Vice President of Global Design Edward Welburn, GM Korea CEO Sergio Rocha, other GM Korea employees and Minister of Trade, Industry & Energy Yoon Sang-jik.

The U.S.-based carmaker invested KRW 40 billion in the center, doubling its size from 7,640 ㎡ to 16,640㎡, making it GM’s third-largest global design center. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide 200 designers and modelers with support for digital modeling, studio engineering and exterior and interior auto design.

“The GM design center in Korea has played a key role in GM’s global design network,” said Welburn.
