Building Coverage Ratio for Factories Within Green Belt Zone Rises to 40%

(SEJONG=NEWSIS) The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced June 8 that it will pre-announce the partially revised plan of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act for 40 days starting June 9. The revised Act aims to vitalize the local economy by helping corporations overcome their investment challenges.

The ministry said it will raise the building coverage ratio requirement up to 40 percent for two years, allowing the facility expansion of factories established within the green belt and management zones.

Facilities that previously did not meet expansion requirements due to a change in zone use purpose can now do so by expanding their sites. New buildings constructed within the expanded sites must meet the construction requirements.

Convalescent hospitals can now be built within rural community zones, if allowed by the local government ordinance. Previously, only general hospitals, dental clinics and Chinese medical hospitals were allowed in the zones.

The licensing procedure for the construction of larger installations, such as solar power plants, will be streamlined as well.

“The recent measure was taken as part of the ministry’s deregulation efforts. We received suggestions from various channels and reviewed them carefully, before laying out the details,” said a ministry official.
