(SEOUL=Yonhap News) KCCI – KOTRA Jointly Held “Korea-China Business Forum” on July 4

Business leaders in Korea and China attended the Korea-China Business Forum, jointly organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and KOTRA, on July 4 at the Hotel Shilla, in Seoul.

The KCCI noted that a record 420 people from both countries participated in the forum.

The economic delegation from China comprised 250 people, the largest economic delegation to have visited Korea thus far.

The 170 Korean participants include Chairman Park Yongmaan of the KCCI along with other presidents of the four major economic institutions, KOTRA CEO Oh Young-ho, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Mong Koo, LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo, SK’s Supex Council Chairman Kim Chang-geun, Lotte Group CEO Shin Dong-Bin, Kumho Asiana Group Chairman Park Sam-koo, LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-Eun, Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Han Dong-woo, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kang Homoon, Hyundai Heavy Industries President Kim Jung-rae, Vice President Lee Young-Hoon of POSCO Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. and Korea Air Lines President Chi Chang Hoon.

Participants from China include CEO Robin Li of Baidu, China’s No.1 online search engine, CEO Jack Ma of Alibaba Group, the world’s largest e-commerce company, President Ren Zhengfei of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., a global ICT solutions provider, Bank of China Chairman Tian Guoli , Bank of Communications Chairman Niu Ximing , China Southern Airlines Chairman Si Xianmin, China Telecom Chairman Wang Xiaochu, China Unicom Chairman Chang Xiaobing, CHINT Group Chairman Nan Cunhui, President Zhu Jianpai of Chongqing Iron & Steel Group, Amer International Group President Wang Wenyin and TCL Group Vice Chairman Hon Fong Ming .

“The economic delegation from China is the best ever in both quality and quantity, as it comprises leading businesses in sectors including manufacturing, finance, IT and services that ensure future cooperation,” said a KCCI official.

Officials at the Korea-China Business Forum, which was last held a year ago in Beijing, reached agreements on investment cooperation in various sectors.

LG Chem signed a memorandum of understanding with the People's Government of Nanjing City to strengthen energy cooperation, while POSCO, SK and SKC reached an agreement to build a strategic partnership with Chongqing Iron & Steel Group, Amer International Group and TCL Group, respectively.

Officials from China’s Investment Promotion Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and the government of Yantai promoted China’s investment environment and attracted investment.

The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy and Korea’s Amorepacific Corporation presented on Korea’s investment environment and the best practices of Korean businesses in China to draw more investment from Chinese companies.

The KCCI co-hosted a Korea-China industrial cooperation forum and exchange meeting with China’s Investment Promotion Affairs Bureau prior to the forum at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
