(SEOUL=Yonhap News) “Report on the Analysis of Contents Industry in Q1” Total sales of the domestic contents industry in the first quarter have exceeded KRW 23 trillion.

According to the “Report on the Analysis of Contents Industry in the 1st Quarter,” the total sales of the domestic contents industry reached KRW 23.1589 trillion, a 6 percent (KRW 1.3928 trillion) increase year-on-year, announced the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) on June 30.

Games played the biggest role.

KOCCA announced that game industry sales during this period increased by 23 percent year-on-year while the export volume rose by 10.6 percent.

The export volume of the domestic contents industry in the first quarter rose 8 percent, or KRW 1.472 trillion, from the same quarter last year.

Sales of contents-related listed companies in the first quarter were KRW 5.435 trillion, a KRW 390.3 billion (7.8%) increase year-on-year, and the export volume was KRW 373.9 billion, a KRW 28.6 billion (8.3%) increase from the same quarter of the previous year.
