(SEOUL=Yonhap News) On August 13, the 2014 Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo (KBEE 2014), hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was held in São Paulo, Brazil, to support Korean export companies making inroads into overseas markets, according to KOTRA.

The participants included 69 Korean export companies who specialize in IT, cultural contents, fashion and other industries closely related to the Korean Wave, while local buyers consisted of 180 Brazilian companies, as well as 49 companies from other Latin American countries.

KOTRA stated that seven local buyers were global companies with annual sales of more than USD 100 million.

Korean participating companies not only offered various activities which enabled visitors to experience Korean products, but also held meetings with local buyers.

Grafizix, a Korean animation production company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation with AstroLab, an Argentine contents distributor, and Technopolis TV, a state-owned broadcasting station.

Han A TECH Co., Ltd., a Korean building structure provider, reached an agreement with a Brazilian engineering company to enter the supply market for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
