(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Korean Free Economic Zone Business Day 2014 was held December 4 in Songdo, Incheon to attract investment into free economic zones (FEZ). Business-related individuals from Korea and abroad learned about the investment environment of FEZs.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE), seven free economic zone authorities and the Korea Agency for Saemangeum Development & Investment co-hosted the two-day event, which was attended by about 200 people from institutions associated with foreign investment, companies at home and abroad, universities, the press and more.

Presentations focused on the investment of BMW Korea and the State University of New York in FEZs. Panel discussions followed. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the Incheon FEZ.

"We will reduce regulations that block the development of free economic zones and investment promotion and nurture high value-added service industries, including education, medical and integrated resorts," said Park Soon-kee, Director General of the FEZ Planning Office.
