Top S. Korean official attends FAO session

According to Yonhap News,

(SEJONG=Yonhap News) South Korea will introduce its policy on boosting the rural economy at a U.N. meeting this week, the government said Thursday.

Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Vice Minister Yeo In-hong is attending the 33rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s regional conference for Asia and the Pacific. It opened in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on Monday for a four-day run.

In a speech slated for later Thursday, Yeo plans to brief other participants on South Korea's push for revitalizing the rural economy and also express its resolve to strengthen regional partnerships, said his ministry.

He will also discuss ways to expand the exports of local food and agriculture products in a series of meetings with high-level officials from Malaysia, Vietnam and other nations, it added.

The FAO's regional meeting is held every two years involving 46 member states and related non-governmental organizations.
