According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea and Thailand on Thursday agreed to beef up collaboration in the tourism industry via cultural exchanges and overseas market efforts, the state-run tourism organization here said.
The Korea Tourism Organization and its Thai counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding in Seoul to jointly hold cultural events and collaborate on marketing efforts.
Yuthasak Supasorn, the chief of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, expressed hope for sharing in the expertise of Korea's thriving entertainment as a way to boost its tourism industry.
The agency pledged expanded support for Korean-speaking tour guides and showcased a mobile Korean guidebook application that offers travel information, including currency rate, public transportation and a map.
Last year, 1.37 million Koreans visited Thailand to become the third-largest tourism group, the Tourism Authority of Thailand said, noting it aims to increase the number to 1.8 million by 2018.
