Japan's Toray BSF Completes Production Lines for Mobile and EV Batteries

According to Yonhap News,

(GUMI=Yonhap News) Toray Battery Separator Film Korea Limited (Toray BSF Korea) completed construction of two production lines for lithium-ion battery separators at the Gumi National Industrial Complex No.4 in Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province on October 12, 2016.




A total of KRW 110 billion was invested in the construction of additional production lines.

With the investment, annual seperator production capacity of the company which has operated four production lines will increase from current 40 million square meters to over 60 million square meters.

Toray BSF Korea is a foreign-invested company wholly owned by Japan's Toray BSF and an affiliated company of Toray Industries Inc.

It has invested KRW 400 billion and produced lithium-ion battery separators at the foreign investment zone of the Gumi National Industrial Complex since 2008 and supplied their products to Korean set makers.

The company decided to expand its production facility in Gumi to meet growing demand for batteries used in mobile devices and electronic vehicles in Korea and Asia.

Lithium-ion battery separator, inserted between positive and negative electrodes, is a crucial component which protects malfunction or explosion of a battery and ensures stability and performance of a battery.
