According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea said Monday it will launch a nationwide shopping campaign next week to provide discounts to foreign tourists one year ahead of the opening of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in February 2018.

Focus will be put on offering discounts at ski resorts and other winter sporting events during the weeklong Korea Grand Sale from Feb. 20-28, the Visit Korea Committee said.

"We are planning to let foreigners know the attractive winter images of South Korea as well as the Korea Grand Sale so more foreigners could have an interest in the (PyeongChang) Olympics and visit Korea," said Han Kyung-ah, secretary general of the committee.

Under the campaign, ski resorts in Pyeongchang and other counties in Gangwon Province will provide up to 50 percent discounts on the use of lifts, gondolas and skiing equipment.

South Korea's largest national flag carrier, Korean Air Lines Co., will offer a package of airplane tickets and hotel accommodation at a discount rate while Asiana Airlines Co. is providing a discount of up to 60 percent for air tickets to China and European cities from Incheon.

Jeju Air, one of several budget carriers, plans to provide air tickets at a maximum 91 percent discount rate during the campaign period.

Shilla Stay, a budget hotel affiliated with Hotel Shilla Co., will provide a 50 percent discount while foreigners can get a 30 percent discount on entrance tickets to N Seoul Tower.

Hundreds of other hotels, duty-free shops and retailers will also join the shopping campaign.
