(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that they held a presentation meeting for the Nano Convergence 2020 Program in Gangnam District, Seoul on January 11.

The program, initiated in 2012, aims to transfer outstanding research performances in the field of nanotechnology to businesses and support commercialization of the technology.

Two ministries announced that a total of KRW 20.2 billion will be funded this year and KRW 3.5 billion will be provided to new projects. They also presented plans for technology consultation service and facts participating companies need to know.

At the 7th industry-university-institute technology exchange conference held subsequent to the presentation meeting, 23 successful cases of research institutes and universities were shared.

"The program has generated around KRW 270-billion in sales and yielded significant outcomes," said an official from the Trade Ministry.

He added that "We expect the program will be a representative case leading the creation of the market for new nano convergence products."
