According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Amid the current political turmoil, the Korean government will hold IR (investor relations) events in two Chinese-speaking countries to ease concerns about the Korean economy.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy revealed Mar. 12 it will be hosting comprehensive IR events in Singapore and Hong Kong from Mar. 13 to 15, where 18 organizations, including local governments, public institutions and small and medium companies are scheduled to participate.

At the event, information sessions will take place for Singaporean and Hong Kong sovereign wealth funds, etc., explaining and introducing Korea's local development projects, small and medium companies hoping to attract foreign investment, and businesses that are currently up for sale.

The events were prepared in an effort to quell concerns that foreign investors may have about the current political turmoil in Korea.

The ministry plans to emphasize the merits of investing in Korea, such as its sound economic fundamentals, and consistency in its foreign investment policies.

Following the sessions, one-on-one consultation meetings will take place with Singapore's sovereign wealth fund and companies that wish to expand their investment in Korea. Local governments, public institutions, and small and medium companies that hope to attract foreign investment will also have opportunities to take part in one-on-one meetings with potential investors.

According to a trade ministry source, "the ministry will do its best so that the IR events lead to actual investments in the near future, by actively continuing its efforts to attract the investors who participated in the events."
