According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) A consortium led by a Hanhwa Group affiliate has won a deal to build a large-scale solar power plant in Turkey, cementing its dominant position in the European country's solar power market, the South Korean firm said Tuesday.
The Hanwha Q Cells-Kalyon consortium will build the 1-GW solar power plant in the Konya province over the next three years, it said. Hanwha Q Cells did not unveil the terms of the deal, but foreign news reports put it at some US$1.3 billion.
The consortium will be able to sell electricity generated from the solar park for 30 years.
Hanwha Q Cells makes solar cells and modules and builds solar parks. Kalyon is a Turkish conglomerate that specializes in construction.
In late 2015, Hanwha Q Cells was the largest player in the Turkish solar power market last year by building a 10MW solar power plant. In late 2015, the South Korean firm also built an 8.3 MW solar power park.
