German MAN Truck & Bus Completes Construction of Korean HQ and Service Center in Yongin

(SUWON=Yonhap News) Leading European commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus has completed its new Korean headquarters and directly-managed technical services center on March 28 in Hagal-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Provnce.

The company based in Germany invested EUR 9.6 million (USD 10 million) in building its Korean HQ and technical services center on a site of 8,156 square meters, the 4-story building, including one underground floor, providing a total floor area of 5,600 square meters.


At the new location, a total of 66 employees will start working, including the 44 persons relocating from the old location in Yangjae-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The service center will be the only of its kind to be under MAN Truck & Korea's direct management, complete with the latest facilities, including 12 servicing bays, and skilled technicians.

In May 2016, MAN Truck & Bus had signed an agreement with Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil, who was visiting Germany at the time, to invest USD 10 million in building a new structure in the province to house the company's new Korean headquarters and technical services center.

The province expects the new directly-managed services center will foster an environment of greater convenience for small business owners, such as truck drivers, to receive related services, such as for replacing auto parts and vehicle maintenance.

Established in 1758, MAN Truck & Bus has accumulated technology and know-how in related industries for the past 260 some years, and has branches in 180 countries around the world.

As of 2015 the company earned KRW 17.8 trillion in sales, employed some 55,000 persons, and produces about 80,000 commercial vehicles each year.

Some 400 dignitaries were present at the ceremony to celebrate the completion, including 2nd Deputy Gyeonggi Province Governor of Administration Kim Dong-keun, Yongin City Mayor Jung Chan-min, MAN Truck & Bus Korea Director of Sales and Marketing Heinz-Jurgen Loew, Deputy German Ambassador to Korea Weert Boerner, and President of MAN Truck & Bus Korea Max Burger.

According to Deputy Governor Kim Dong-keun, the province will continue to actively provide administrative support to foreign companies that invest not only in key local industries, but also in strengthening services for Korean consumers."
