(SEOUL=Newsis News) A MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, events) industry expo, the largest ever to be held in Korea, is scheduled to kick off in Incheon on June 15.
Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) announced June 12 that it will be hosting Korea MICE Expo 2017 from June 15 to 16 at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon, in collaboration with Incheon Tourism Organization (ITO).
Under the theme 'Future Strategy for Tourism and MICE Industry, in the Age of the 4th Industrial Revolution,' this year's event, now in its 18th year, will feature some 300 MICE-related organizations and businesses, as well as some 350 Korean and foreign buyers, making it the largest yet MICE expo to be held in Korea.
Visitors to the exposition will be able to experience ideas for creating high added value in the MICE industry through the latest technological innovations such as VR and AR that are representative of the 4th industrial revolution.
Also scheduled are the K-MICE Forum where speakers will present future strategies for the local tourism and MICE industries, as well as information sessions for Korean and foreign buyers on Korea's international conference support system, and for promoting the MICE industries of each region. Daum Soft's vice president Song Gil Young and Creative's director Ted Kim will be participating in the K-MICE Forum.
Foreign buyers have been invited from all parts of the world, including India, Mongolia, Europe, the Americas, as well as from the major Southeast Asian countries of Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Some 180 foreign buyers from the 28 participating countries will also be visiting MICE facilities and tourist destinations across Korea during their stay.
According to the director of KTO's Meetings & Incentives Team, "the largest ever Korea MICE Expo will serve as a good opportunity to promote the high quality of Korea's MICE Industry, recognized as no. 1 in the world for holding international conferences by the Union of International Associations (UIA)," adding, "KTO plans to continue its efforts to raise awareness of Korea as the world's premier MICE destination."
Meanwhile, KTO is set to hold a signing ceremony for the sustainable development of and mutual growth in the MICE industry with 11 Convention Bureaus (MICE promotion agencies funded by local governments) on June 15, and promise to increase joint overseas marketing events, avoid excessive competition between regions, and prevent providing support to different organizations for the same event.
