According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea's tourism promotion body said Friday it has held presentation meetings in Canada together with the operator of Incheon International Airport to attract more transfer passengers to the country's main gateway.
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) held two sessions in Vancouver and Toronto on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, inviting some 150 guests from the local tourism industry, the KTO said.
The program was aimed at introducing South Korea as a potential transfer point or a stopover, the state tourism agency said. The airport operator provides various programs for transfer passengers in collaboration with local tourism companies.
There were a total of 7.41 million transit passengers at the airport in 2016. Among them, 66,179 people used the free tour program provided by the airport operator, up nearly 80 percent from 37,084 tallied in 2013, according to the tourism body.
