According to Yonhap News,

(INCHEON=Yonhap News) Incheon Port is going through a major renovation to improve its logistics environment by 2018.

According to the Incheon Port Authority (IPA) on August 24, it plans to complete the 16 ongoing logistics environment enhancement projects by the end of next year.

The IPA has already completed introducing a 24-hour Logistics Service that eliminates time restrictions for port users, and an Empty Container Night-time Return Service designed to improve the flow of traffic by avoiding congestion during the day.

The port authority has also completed 5 of the 16 enhancement projects, including the Incheon New Port Deepening Project to attract larger vessels.

The remaining 9 projects are currently being carried out by the IPA, including projects to create a parking lot at Aam Logistics Complex No. 1, raise the port's competitiveness by reducing quarantine costs, shortening the time for customs clearance by supporting the installation of a container (X-ray) inspection center.

In the second half of this year, IPA plans to find additional causes of inconvenience within the logistics environment by conducting surveys on ports users and holding meetings with industry representatives.

IPA President Nam Bong-hyun noted, "logistics environment enhancement is highly important as it directly affects how much time and money port users have to spend," adding, "IPA will do its best to make sure the enhancement projects are carried out according to plan."
