Date
2017.08.30

According to Yonhap News,

(INCHEON=Yonhap News) Incheon Port Authority (IPA) will commence construction next month to create a hinterland for Incheon New Port.

According to IPA on August 28, an order will be placed to install infrastructure such as roads, water supply and sewage systems, and power supply facilities on 517,000m² of land in Area 1 through the Public Procurement Service (PPS). Construction will begin later this year and continue for the following 20 months.

Area 1 covers a total of 660,000m², and orders for construction on the first 149,000m² have already been placed by the Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries.

Through the project, the government plans to secure a logistics complex that spans 2.14 million m² of land behind Incheon New Port, attract local and foreign logistics companies to the area, and thereby revitalize the economy.

When completed, the port's hinterland will feature a wide range of facilities for storing goods, home delivery services, assembly, and processing, as well as for business and commercial purposes, all necessary features for invigorating the port.

In addition to Area 1, the Incheon New Port hinterland is scheduled to supply an additional 940,000m² (Area 2) and 540,000m² (Area 3) by the end of 2020.
