(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The 2017 Global Accelerators Conference & Demoday, jointly held by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (CCEI), and The Korea Economic Daily, has kicked off on September 20 for a three-day run at the COEX convention center in Seoul.
At the event, world-famous startup accelerators and 12 venture capitalist companies from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Finland, Israel and Taiwan, will introduce global startup trends and the startup discovery, cultivation and investment programs of each firm.
U.S.-based Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) and Techstars, Finland's Startup Sauna, China's HAX Accelerator and Alibaba Cloud are all world renowned for discovering and investing in promising startups.
From Korea, 30 promising startups showcased their products and pitched to the potential investors.
The companies were selected from a pool of startups being cultivated by the 11 major accelerators in Korea, including Seoul CCEI, for having outstanding products and potential for succeeding in foreign markets.
The startups include Dot, maker of the world's first braille smartwatch for the visually impaired, ulalaLAB, developer of an ICT convergence platform that uses big data and machine learning, Haebora, maker of earbuds that also act as a microphone, and the P2P financial platform startup Funded.
