According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) NAVER Labs Europe, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) research center under Naver Corp., announced its latest research endeavors Tuesday, as South Korea's top Internet portal operator moves to expand its AI portfolio.

Four researchers from Naver Labs Europe -- originally the Xerox Research Centre Europe -- outlined the headway they have made in the field of big data and machine learning during a gathering of Naver researchers in Seoul.

"We believe that this research announcement will serve as a good opportunity for local experts and industry officials, since Naver Labs Europe is the world's biggest AI research organization," said a Naver official, who declined to be named.

Naver Labs Europe, based in France, was created by Xerox in 1993. The center was the first in the world to explore a number of technologies. The primary area of research at NAVER Labs Europe is machine learning.

Naver earlier announced that it will invest 500 billion won (US$425 million) over the next five years to help develop AI technologies to transform itself into a company that combines AI, software and hardware products.
