A foreign-invested company established at Gumi's 4th National Industrial Complex in February 2008 with 100-percent investment from Japan's Toray Industries, Toray BSF Korea currently employs some 350 workers, and has made a total investment of over KRW 600 billion to this day.
The goal of the expansion is to meet the rapidly growing demand for lithium-ion battery separator films in the world, and particularly in Korea and China.
Used for making electric vehicle (EV) and smartphone batteries, lithium-ion battery separator films prevent explosions and other forms of malfunctioning.
The lithium-ion battery separator films produce by Toray BSF Korea are supplied to Samsung SDI, LG Chemical and Japan's Sony Corporation.
The signing ceremony was attended by some 20 persons including North Gyeongsang Mayor Kim Kwan Yong, Gumi Mayor Nam Yoo-chin and Toray BSF Korea President Teiji Nakamura.
