The European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) and EU Delegation to Korea will jointly host a conference called 2017 EU Research & Innovation Day focused on the theme of innovations based on renewable energy sources on Nov. 23-24 in Seoul.
As many as 300 European political and institutional figures from the European Commission, EU Embassy in Korea and ECCK and scientists around the globe are invited to the event held at Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul.
Under the theme of “Innovation for a climate resilient and resource efficient economy,” the conference will offer various sessions on EU’s strategies, project plans, Korea-EU R&I policies, renewable energy solutions and green mobility.
Kim Myeong-ja, former environment minister and head of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, will deliver the keynote address. Executives from BMW Korea, Ernst & Young, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Schneider Electric Korea, Seimens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Solvay, TÜV SÜD, Veolia Korea will also speak at the forum.
The European Commission will expound on its mega research and innovation funding program dubbed Horizon 2020 that involves a budget of nearly €90 billion ($90 billion).
Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed to create an innovation-friendly environment for economic growth and job creation.
