According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea is pushing to make 10 products out of natural substances extracted from plants originating in the country by 2022, the ICT ministry said Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, the plan is to newly manufacture products such as cosmetics, food and drugs using the country's indigenous plants such as ginseng.
"The global market for natural products has grown by 7 percent annually in recent years due to growing demand for healthy and safe products," the ministry said a in a press release.
The government's goal is also to increase the market share of South Korea's natural products from 2.2 percent in 2017 to 4 percent by 2022.
The ministry said it will first establish a nationwide database of some 4,000 natural substances from the country.
