Korean Tourism Teams Up With Famous Idian Actors to Promote Korea
Date
2018.06.08

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) On June 6, the Korea Tourism Organization announced it has invited a famous celebrity couple from India to visit Korea in order to make inroads to the vast Indian market with 1.3 billion people. The plan is to produce a featured TV program introducing tourist attractions in Korea with the famous couple.

From June 8 to 14, on-screen turned off-screen couple Rohan Mehra and Kanchi Singh will visit Korea with India TV.

During their stay, the couple will visit Myeongdong, Seoul, Seongsan Ilchulbong and famous tourist attractions in Jeju. They will also get to experience various leisure activities such as kayaking and yachting.

The show will air for one month on major networks in India.

The couple will also post live updates of their visit to Korea on their personal SNS accounts that have more than 1 million followers.

Korea Tourism Organization's New Delhi Office Head Kwon Jong-sul stated, "In India, people are extremely responsive to influential celebrities. They also have a strong sense of pride in their culture, so instead of taking the hallyu (Korean cultural wave) approach, it is more effective to promote Korean culture by attracting Bollywood movies and music videos to Korea."

The Korea Tourism Organization stated it will continue to strengthen influencer marketing for Indian markets.

In July, online Indian travel agency Ezeego1, Seoul Tourism Organization, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Jeju Tourism Organization will invite the winner and runner-up of Miss India to Korea.

The organizations will develop various photo and video content of their visit and use them for tourist product development and promotion.
