Korea-Japan Economic Exchange Expo Held on July 5

(TOKYO=Yonhap News) On July 4, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Japan announced it will host the 2018 Korea-Japan Economic Exchange Conference in joint cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT and KOTRA.

About 70 Korean SMEs and 200 Japanies companies will attend the event.

Participating Japanese firms include IT companies such as Fujitsu, NTT DOCOMO and Soft Bank, as well as companies with large distribution networks such as Rakuten, Amazon Japan and Seibu.

The event will feature an IT exhibition, one-on-one consultations for consumer goods and e-commerce as well as a seminar on ICT.

There will also be an opportunity for Japanese employers to provide job information to Korean students studying in Japan, as the number of Korean youth finding work in Japan is increasing.

The embassy stated 4 MOUs for supply and development worth USD 219 billion (KRW 24 billion) are expected to be signed at the event.

The embassy also remarked, "The demand for accommodation, shopping, information security and more is on the rise ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We look forward to seeing Korean companies enter these markets."
