Gangneung Breaks Ground for Advanced Materials Convergence Industrial District

According to Yonhap News,

(GANGNEUNG=Yonhap News) Gangneung City, Gangwon-do, will build an advanced materials convergence industrial district in Okgye-myeon.

On July 25, the East Coast Free Economic Zone (EFEZ) Authority held a ground breaking ceremony in Okgye-myeon with 200 people in attendance including Gangwon-do Governor Choi Moon-soon and Gangneung Mayor Kim Han-Geun.

Okgye-myeon District is is one of 3 EFEZ being developed directed by the province of Gangwon, so land compensation was easy to obtain and construction will will begin this month.

The industrial complex will be built oon a 388,910㎡ plot of land and will include a 210,952㎡ industrial distribution facility and public infrastructure will cover 177,958㎡ of land.

The province will invest KRW 59.5 billion in the construction of the industrial complex to be completed by June 2020, and develop the complex into a base to foster the global lightweight materials including silicon and titanium as well as the industry and rare metals Industry.
