(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) GTI International Trade & Investment Expo 2018, the festival of economic Korean Wave at the Northeast Asian region, is out of booths that domestic and international companies apply in prior to the event.
About 500 firms including 450 domestic and 50 international, applied to participate in this year's Expo, said Gangwon-do on August 5.
More than 300 companies from key overseas economic organizations, including the World Korean Business Convention, China Enterprise Confederation, Global Women Entrepreneurs Association, The World Federation of Korean Association of Commerce and Mindan showed interest in participating in the Expo, which is the record number.
Domestic companies in the field of electric vehicle, clean food, bio, medical device, cosmetics, handcraft and eco-friendly industrial products will participate.
From September 13 to 16, the 6th Expo will be held in Donghae Wellbeing Leports Town.
About a thousand buyers from Korea, China, Russia, Mongolia and China, which are the member countries of GTI, and about ten thousand domestic and overseas buyer group are expected to come.
In order to develop a new export market, together with export related organizations such as KOTRA and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corportation, it will select 205 overseas buyers and match one to one with domestic sellers to maximize the achievements.
In order to promote domestic market, business meetings between town businesses and social enterprises and sales promotion for the best products will be organized.
In particular, the Expo will cooperate with domestic and international travel agencies, organizations and KORAIL to support 10 thousand buyer group coming to the GTI Expo, and also open discount event under the theme of Chuseok market place so that the participants can see actual outcomes.
As part of the special exhibitions, exhibit halls for the East Coast Free Economic Zone and Gangwon Tour, eco-friendly electric vehicle, Gangwon's approved rice, Korean beef and agriculture, fisheries and regional products, Gangwon rice with seasoned vegetables, Gangwon gift cards and India will be set up.
During the exhibition period, Winter Olympics Economic Cooperation Forum, the World Korean Business Convention, Northeast Asia Female CEO Convention and domestic MD conference will be held in order to prepare a bridgehead for the export of the companies in the Province.
"The GTI Expo is expanding as an economic Korean wave exhibition of the world thanks to many participants from local governments of China, Russia and Japan as well as leaders of of economic organizations from Asia and Europe," said Hong-jin Jeon, Director General of Global Investment and Trade Bureau of the Province, and added "We will make the event a global festive exhibition where all participating businesses and people can join."
