Marking its 12th year, the Korea International Machinery Expo 2018 (KIMEX 2018) will be held from October 23 to 26 at Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO) in Changwon, South Gyeongsang-do Province. It will be hosted by Gyeongnam-do Province and Changwon City and organized by the Korea Association of Machinery Industry.

KIMEX 2018 is a representative international exhibition held biennially since 1997 to present and exchange information related to machinery industry.

This year's event will accommodate 139 companies from 16 countries in 468 booths, and will have exhibition halls with the themes: factory automation equipment and general machinery; machine tools and metalworking machinery & related equipment; parts, materials and root industry; energy, environment and power plant equipment; and IT, convergence digital industry and Smart Tech.

An export fair will be held from October 23 to 24 with overseas vendors.

A total of 100 companies from in and out of the country will be invited to have business meetings related to machinery. They will have opportunities to build networks with the prominent overseas companies and domestic firms.

During the export fair held in 2016, participants successfully signed export contracts worth USD 83 million.

"Gyeongnam's machinery industry has been playing the role of a driving force of economic growth of the whole country as well as the Province, but is facing difficulties due to the regional crisis in the shipbuilding industry and overall economic recession," said an official from the Province. "I hope KIMEX 2018 serves as a momentum for machinery and manufacturing industries to accelerate development and overcome crisis."
