According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea and Denmark have agreed to expand cooperation on renewable energy and innovative energy technologies to create synergies between the two nations, Seoul's energy ministry said Thursday.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate held a bilateral energy forum and signed a memorandum of understanding to step up cooperation in the field.

The agreement calls for expanding joint projects, R&D and overseas marketing in renewable energy, as well as energy storage systems (ESS) and smart grids.

South Korea has advanced technologies in ESS, solar power and ICT, and Denmark is a pioneer in wind power, which accounted for nearly half of the European nation's energy mix in 2017.

Seoul has been seeking to increase its proportion of renewable energy, such as wind and solar power, to 20 percent by 2030, up from the current 7 percent.
